The Best Android Phone Ever...

Image
Oh, so maybe you thought just because I love Apple and their products I would never talk well about the competition? Well, think again because Google made their first smartphone and just proved Alan Kay right when he said: "People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware" How it went? well... There's a divided opinion out there:  Wired  called it "an iPhone running Android is exactly what I've been waiting for", others like  Gizmodo  said "The Google Pixel Is Too Dumb and Ugly to Replace Your iPhone". So, where am I on the hate scale towards this first Google Smartphone? I think it is the best android phone out there, by quite a wide gap. I have tried out a good enough range of android phones and wanted to know what the Google approach would be like. I don't hate Android phones, but always thought that the software-hardware experience was blatantly negative in most cases. Huawei and XiaoMi were the best I had t

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The september iPhone 7 and AppleWatch Series 2 keynote was awesome  (link provides 10 minute recap) and here's why: First of all, it is great to see Tim Cook making a real effort to give the keynote a light entrance, a fun tone and an entertainment factor that people forget is one of Apple's core identities: technology and the liberal arts. The entrance with James Corden's Carpool Karaoke was fun and did put a smile on my face even though Cook does have a seriousness to his way of being and presenting, but it is who he is and he is not trying to be someone else, he is showing he isn't all work and stress. Next is someone we all know and love! THE Mario Bros.! I could not be happier to see Nintendo bring Mario to iOS! In all honesty I believe it has been long enough for Nintendo to enter the ecosystem which has the most number of gaming devices ever: Apple's iOS platform which has a 106% growth per year! In terms of education, Apple does more than peo

A Short Letter to Courage: Reflecting About the Future

People get used to certain characteristics in their daily products. So here are my thoughts on why it is good this "great big change" happened and why it is a very Apple-like measure towards innovation: Merriam-Webster defines courage as the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous. They did it! And just like A LOT of other parts of the keynote it was an already leaked fact. And you know what? I am SO glad they did! Getting rid the good old headphone jack is one of my most anticipated "Apple-moves" of the year! The did put in the dual lens camera, they did make the iPhone IP67 water resistant under 1 meter of water for 30 meters, they put in stereo speakers, and all the stuff I will put into my piece about why the Keynote was amazing... BUT what I was looking for is for Apple to take a bold product move under Tim Cook. And THIS IS IT! Tim Cook releasing a new product (AppleWatch) and making a "bold" move are 2 of the main

WWDC16 Why We Develop and Code

So, the World Wide Developers Conference 2016 (WWDC16) happened and here are my summarised thoughts on the MANY THINGS that have been announced/revealed since my last post. First le t's talk about diversity for a bit: "Apple celebrates diversity" said Tim Cook to open up the keynote address. WWDC16 had people from over 74 countries, all shapes and sizes, all ages and cultural backgrounds.  The developer community is a great example that in diversity lies innovation and differences can be used to build a great environment of success. Knowingly, the thoughts and considerations of each and every person at the keynote went out the horrible Orlando shooting victims' families. If you can take time to address the FBI privacy issue before, taking time for the families that suffered loss the day before WWDC is a much appreciated gesture. Take a minute, take 60 seconds to  realise  that there is diversity all around you every day . Thanks for being one of the more

Is the glass half empty or half full?

FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU TO THE 1000 NEW TWITTER FOLLOWERS AND THE NEARLY 1000 READERS THAT HAVE COME TO THIS BLOG. I am glad my opinion and critique has been reaching quite a few people and let's hope it keeps growing. Bill Graham Civil Auditorium Where the Monday 13th, 2016 Kickoff will take place It has been a while since I last wrote, but the hype of June 13th WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) is growing and I wanted to let you guys know where Apple stands before this possibly GINORMOUS keynote and what could come from it. You know how they say your biggest challenge is to surpass yourself? Well I'm sorry to say that Apple wasn't able to "beat itself" after a 13 years IN A ROW growth... Yeah, 50,6 BILLION dollars in revenue is not good enough apparently to be an ok quarter result... Not just that, evidently the 13-year surge was clearly and openly announced to be coming to a  "halt" ... But since it had been 13 years of such amazing res

Predictability vs Innovation

Ok so remember when Apple keynotes were all about screaming and shouting? Remember when Steve Jobs said "this is the iPod Nano" and you would hear the awe in the room plus your own? I do (at least in my case i was a part of that awe). I believe this last March 21st keynote was not that type of keynote. It was not the awe of when the iPhone was announced for the first time: "an iPod, a Phone and a breakthrough internet communicator" It was not like the great applause moment when Swift was announced (I am not a developer but i do know enough about app developing to understand the awe in the room). Or like the happiness of when iOS 5 made iOS devices PC free... So many moments when whooping and applause was the common denominator of the crowds at Apple Keynotes and unfortunately people started getting used to the fact that whooping meant innovation and not whooping meant predictability. Last March 21st people started criticizing the fact that the Apple Watch band

"I'll Be Back!"

SO.... I'm back ladies and gentlemen! I cannot believe that since last year so many rumours have finally come about and some have left. Apple Car o whatever you wanna call it is being stopped as the project manager "seemingly left the company". Android wear for iPhone might open up AppleWatch for android devices and biggest and most importantly: THE IPHONE 5 WILL BE BACK!!!!! Let me explain why out of all the rumours This is the one I am most excited about. Apple started out by changing the computer industry, then changed the music industry with the iPod and the iTunes store; it is in this moment of history when I come into the apple addiction: my first time OWNING an apple made device was an iPod nano (2gigs black) the idea of ONE THOUSAND SONGS IN MY POCKET blew my mind at a pencil thin technological redesign of the iPod Mini. I would not change that iPod until the 3rd nano gen due to the amazing square redesign and video capabilities. Now don't get me wro
