Becoming a Parent

Image
One of the weirdest things that I think and believe and that probably not a lot of people think about is that I want to be a really good grandfather. It is actually very simple to explain but very complicated to understand. I had an AMAZING grandfather that passed away when I was about to turn 13 years old, and in that relatively short amount of time he became my hero. Yeah... cops and firefighters were cool but he was way cooler period. And the entire reason why was because of how good he was at telling me stories of his life, it was as if I was there with him. I remember at first I would ask him questions about the things that I was curious about in his stories, and as time went on he could predict what I would ask him and would cover all the details that I wanted to hear in his stories. He became a better storyteller and I became the happiest audience to his monologues there was... Every single night he would end the story with a quote, and he was old so there was no googling h

Pay it Forward

I have had a PACKED week and wanted to let you guys know that it ALL comes back around. You have to learn to stop and take a minute to breathe. Stop and take less things for granted. Very few people stop throughout their week to see where they're at, and I'm not asking for an hour, just 5 minutes are enough. If you have the time to read this I want you to realize you have time to smile, to breathe and think about the people who put you in hard times, left you in hard times and helped you in hard times, because the more maturity you accomplish the more selective you become of the people you surround yourself. I know sometimes we all just want the universe to cash us back on our efforts. To just hear a doorbell ring and answer the call of someone waiting outside with a huge prize as if we got lucky and got gifts and prizes from the Ellen show or something like that. Yeah, I wish so too. That is one of the reasons for which I love the movie after which this entry is named.

Software Boom Week

Image
This week has been beautiful! Besides the large amount of work that I have had it has been the week of Apple software updates. My iPad and iPhone are now running the public version of iOS11 and my watch is now on watchOS4. I wanted to let you guys know how in these few past days the update has benefitted my life by empowering my devices with new software, while I await the public macOS High Sierra that is soon to be released. First the easy and blatant changes: iOS11. I hope by now you have updated your iOS devices. If you have, you can be one of two kinds of people: First, the geeks and tech-savy people that dig into the settings and everything new with the software and try out the new characteristics and capabilities. Second, the "in time" type of people, these technological introverts decide to continue with their everyday normal use of their iPhone or iPad and stumble onto the new parts of the software as they go. Whichever of those you are, sooner of later you will

An AppleWorm's Thoughts on September Keynote

Image
Apple will give us a great end of 2017 A couple of days have passed, people's thoughts have come and gone. Am I late to the party? Well, no. You see, I like to wait for a couple of days to go by after Apple events so I can read up as many articles on both sides of people's thoughts and see what they think and why. The good the bad, the positives and negatives out there all, if not most, have interesting and thought out points that help me see how other people understood and interpret Apple's announcements.  Appreciation is to make something wonderful and put it out there for the world. The inauguration of the Steve Jobs Theatre happened at the new Apple Campus and it was only fitting that Steve Jobs would open up his own theatre with a quote by him. Apple has always been about inspiring the next generation, about betting on their vision of the future. At the Apple event it was absolutely clear that the Apple-way is what always has and always will drive thi

Tomorrow: Apple September Event 2017

Cold apple juice, Starbucks de-lactosed grande cappuccino, simple croissant, iPad playing the keynote, beats headphones to not listen to anything else; MacBook with twitter to give out my thoughts and pages ready to take notes for the upcoming blog entries and podcast for you guys. Aaaand my iPhone on Do Not Disturb mode. I have already told you guys what my Apple-Keynote day ritual looks like in previous keynote blog entries and podcast responses so I will let you in on another classic practice I tend to do the day before. Since tomorrow is the big day I do prepare everything just in case: the obvious ones are simple: I have 3 backup batteries for my devices and I make sure they are FULL. I set up scheduled Do Not Disturb for all my devices 15 mins before and after the event to be able to focus and write out my notes without being interrupted unless it is an emergency. Also I did tell you guys I do not "report" and/or get into the scoop and leak writing that a lot o

The Best Day of Your Life

Image
“Today is the best day of my life” two people have told me this phrase this year alone, completely different people, places, reasons… And yet I have felt like the happiest person in the world around them simply because I am there to witness that specific moment. Have you ever been overcome by happiness just by looking at a kid laugh or a baby smile? Well, this first one is that times a thousand… She is my beautifully crazy young cousin that is like a small sister to me. It was her first time at Disney, we walked into Magic Kingdom and every millimeter was worthy of amazement to her. The face of a small kid walking into her dream world is nothing less emotive than a smile from ear to ear… Trying to keep her cool, we went to the castle to witness the Mickey and his friends show. They all came out to a song, danced, sung… eventually the grand finale was a transition from Frozen to all the characters together. As soon as they all came out at the same time and danced, held hands, waved

Grains of Sand: The UN experience

Image
Missed me?! Well, I am back! Stronger and fiercer than ever! As I told you guys in the podcast episode last month I went to the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York for the 14th Annual Youth for Human Rights International Summit to represent Costa Rica. A lot happened! I truly am as grateful as can be with the organization and everyone involved in it, for that life changing and absolutely humbling experience. I wrote out at least 5 different future entry titles for the blog and a great outline for the upcoming podcast episode on the way back to Costa Rica on the plane and I really think you guys will like them, after all this is an enormous part of my journey towards success. So we'll start here and build up to the podcast with a vital and meaningful thought in this entry: Yeah, I'm the one with the big smile Have you ever taken a close look at sand? At how different each grain is and how together they blend to seem the same color whilst still being different size
